On Saturday, February 01, 2014, I had gone to meet with my mentor Dr. Lee, D.D.S. I had seen the procedure a hygienist does with cleaning teeth and fixing up gaps. I got to spend time seeing the hygienist clean and fill out chart work. Later in the day, I got to see Dr. Lee put a clear coat over a young boys cavity because his cavity had cracked. After cleaning teeth for a good four hours we all had taken a break and I got to see how chart work was filled out. I got to see the office all around and the way everything was set up. Dr. Lee is a extremely friendly man, he had been very caring and considerate.

I had learned a lot of facts about dentistry and the wrongs that happen with our teeth. Everyone has a different type of teeth structure and sometimes others have a more sensitive mouth than most. When having a sensitive gums, you need to be careful because it is hard to clean with bleeding gums. One important fact I learned was, "Gum diseases can cause heart attacks/strokes." Meaning we need to be careful of what happens to our mouths and the way we treat our gums. The hygienist had also stated, "As we age our gums tend to shrink a little bit. Our roots tend to show." As a result, sensitive teeth need more care than others with a straighter bone structure.
